Our company has been working under the name "AEROQ" from 1991 - when, by Governmental Decision no. 242, the certification authority for quality systems and aeronautical products and (The Department of Industrial Control for Quality Assurance of AERONAUTICAL Products, established in 1982) became a joint-stock company.

Between 1991 and 1995, AEROQ gradually adjusted to the new structure of the Romanian economy and to the new legislation, providing consulting services for the design, documentation and implementation of quality management systems. Meanwhile, it successfully accomplished its privatisation..

After the issue of the Governmental Decision no. 167/1992 regarding the establishment and performance of the National Quality Certification System, in accordance with the European and international rules - ISO 9000 series - AEROQ - established and documented the quality management system according to requirements of SR EN 45011 and SR EN 45012, in order to become an accredited certification body within the national certification system.

Following the due procedures, from December 1995 AEROQ is fully accredited as certification body for quality systems, under the references of EN 45012 Standard . Thus, it became the first Romanian body complying with these requirements. On January 25, 1999, it was re-accredited by RENAR. From November 1997 it has been also accredited for the certification of product conformity under the references of the EN 45011 Standard.

One of the main goals for 2001 is getting the accreditation as certification body for environmental management systems. United Romanian Breweries SRL (TUBORG Romania) has got the first ISO 14001 Certificate issued by AEROQ, becoming the first beverages company in Romania that has both ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 certificates. AEROQ is currently working at ISO 14000 certification contracts and is also examining certification requests from companies in different industries, such as: electronics, construction materials, oil and gas.

As RENAR is a full member of the European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA), the Romanian certification bodies accredited by RENAR are recognised in Europe and the certificates issued by AEROQ are recognised in EU and, by extension, in CEFTA, North America, Asia-Pacific and South Africa.

AEROQ cooperates with similar Romanian and European authorities and other authorities from countries that trade Romanian goods and services. Certificates issued by AEROQ are recognized in Romania and abroad.

AEROQ's policy is to allow access to the certification services to all applicants, without discrimination, and to distribute the certification rules free-of-charge.

AEROQ has more than 1250 customers from different industries and issued more than 960 certificates.

The AEROQ team is young and dynamic, with an average age of 37 years; it has a permanent staff and more than 60 external collaborators - auditors and experts - highly qualified in different industries - electronics, IT, civil engineering, power supply, aircraft, metallurgy, chemistry - trained in quality management in U.S.A., United Kingdom, France, Germany and with a broad experience from their cooperation with famous companies in aeronautical and nuclear industries.

AEROQ's Executive Committee, with representatives of all the parties (customers, suppliers, public authorities, importers, distributors) interested in the operation of the certification system, has the final word in granting, maintaining, suspension or withdrawal of certification documents.
